Yoshiuki Takani Painting Studies

At university i studied Fine Art painting and at one point was pretty proficient with painting with oil paints. I put oil painting to one side to focus on digital art and my illustration career. However with the advent of AI and the ripples that has had across the industry ive felt a strong desire to return to my roots and pick up oil painting again.

To get back into the swing of things ive been doing studies of the phenomenal work by Yoshiyuki Takani. Believe it or not he has a very classical approach, starting with a coloured ground and then following that up with multiple layers of translucent colour. Ive been really enjoying working in this way and will doing some original personal pieces in oil paint before long I hope.
